Botanical name: Cyperus alternifolius

This perennial will grow 5'-6' tall and has long, thin, flat leaves on top of triangular stems. Small greenish flowers at the center of the leaves bloom in summer but are considered inconspicuous. It also produces fruit that appears golden and then turns to dark brown. This plant does well in full to part sun but needs lots of water and can be even submerged in water. It does best with monthly fertilizing. It looks great in containers and may do best in them as to contain the roots which may be invasive.
