Tuscan Blue Upright Rosemary

Common name: Tuscan Blue Upright Rosemary
Botanical name: Rosmarinus officinalis 'Tuscan Blue'

'Tuscan Blue' is an upright shrub that grows 4'-6' tall and wide. It has olive green, needle-like, small, aromatic leaves and bright showy lavender-blue flowers that are larger than other cultivars, blooming in winter and spring. This shrub is drought tolerant once it's established, preferring full sun and well draining soil.

Horsetail

Common name: Horsetail
Botanical name: Equisetum hyemale

This reed-like plant has dark green, jointed stems that reach 3'-4' tall but will spread. It should receive sun to part shade with regular summer watering. The reed grass can be extremely invasive and is best when used in pots or when confined by a barrier. However, it can be extremely effective as an accent plant. While tolerant of wet conditions, the most successful plantings are those with regular watering and more during summer. It does well in coastal areas. Tall grasses are highly combustible.

Tasmanian Tree Fern

Common name: Tasmanian Tree Fern
Botanical name: Dicksonia antarctica

This slow-growing plant is the hardiest of all tree ferns. Its fronds, 3'-6' long, are also dark green in color. It should receive part sun, and average watering, although the plants will take relatively dry conditions when established.

Papyrus, Egyptian Paper Reed

Common name: Papyrus, Egyptian Paper Reed
Botanical name: Cyperus papyrus

This tall, subtropical perennial bears clusters of filmy, narrow, thread-like leaflets on stalks to 6-8' tall. This plant requires average to heavy watering, and must be protected from hard frost. It makes an outstanding container plant and is striking when used with cut flowers. The plant should be grown in sun to part shade and will tolerate standing water.

Trailing African Daisy

Common name: Trailing African Daisy
Botanical name: Osteospermum fruticosum

This groundcover-small shrub will grow 1' tall, spreading 4' in a year. It has medium-size green leaves with lavender that have a dark purple center. The flower color changes to white the next day! The flowers bloom in fall and winter but in mild coastal areas, may bloom all year. It needs well draining soil. This plant looks great on a hillside or in a hanging basket. Other Names: Freeway Daisy
