The Mexican Sage is a bushy shrub that grows 3'-4' tall and wide. It has hairy white stems, grey-green leaves and velvet-like purple flower spikes that bloom summer through fall. This Agave has a dramatic tropical form. Even light frost can damage its succulent leaves. It is great for containers. In the low desert, partial sun will be best. If it becomes top heavy, simply cut and stick in the ground to root. It is not a fast grower and has light green foliage. It will also die after flowering but pups around the mother will survive. This unusual looking succulent slowly forms a thick upright trunk, reaching 6' tall. At the top of the trunk is long slender grass-like leaves, cascading down like water from a fountain. Foliage can reach 3'-5' tall and 3' wide. Once in a blue moon, white flowers appear above the foliage in spring with lots of nectar. Australian Grass Tree needs full sun, well draining, sandy, dry soil. It is drought tolerant once it's established.

Aptly named, 'Silver Mound' has soft, feathery foliage and forms a compact, silky, cushion-like mound. It has many applications in the garden including: edging, rock gardens, pots, or a filler plant for hot, dry areas. It has long been one of the most popular silver foliage plants. 'Silver Mound' combines especially well with dark leaved plants such as Sedum 'Purple Emperor' or with other silver foliage plants like Stachys 'Silver Carpet'.

This variety of Eucalyptus is smaller than other species, growing to 20' tall. Leaves can vary a great deal. Lantern shaped buds precede the coral red or yellow flowers. Flowers appear winter through spring and make good cut flowers. Branches, which are cinnamon-colored, make wonderful arrangements. If planted in groves, the effect is stunning, especially with new branch growth which starts green and turns blue green. This variety is sun, drought and shade tolerant.

This hardy shrub can reach 4' tall and wide. It is a useful, old-time garden plant with soft, woolly gray green, wrinkled leaves. During spring and summer, yellow, 1" flowers in ball-shaped whorls with a clove like fragrance cover the shrub. It does best in full sun or light shade. It is both cold tolerant and drought tolerant once it's established.
