Joan Senior Daylily

Common name: Joan Senior Daylily
Botanical name: Hemerocallis 'Joan Senior'

This strap-leafed perennial is enjoyed for its enduring flowers and hearty constitution. It has dark green leaves that protrude from the base and lovely lily-like flowers that burst forward from long stems. 'Joan Senior' has creamy white flowers that are greenish at the throat. They bloom in summer and possibly in the fall if deadheaded and with the right conditions. This plant does well in full to part sun with well draining, fertile soil. It needs regular watering when first establishing plant; may need only occasional watering once plant is established. This daylily tolerates coastal areas as well as warm, inland regions. It attracts butterflies. Looks great when planted in masses. Plant foliage is a beautiful dark green, reaching 20" tall. Overall height may be 2' tall and wide.
